Here Lars Olov Karlsson, former curator of the Swedish National Railway Museum, gives the historical background of each Swedish narrow gauge railway companies and lists all of their steam locomotives and steam railcars, with wheel arrangement, works number, details of renumberings, change of ownership and ultimate fate.
Given that Sweden had nine different narrow-gauges, ranging from 600 mm to 1217 mm, the number of locomotive types is considerable, but it has to be said the variety and, at times, eccentricity is absolutely glorious, especially for the modeller. Most of the locomotives are from Swedish builders, but a respectable number come from the UK, notably from Bristol based builders. Includes details of the 90 or so preserved NG steam locomotives in Sweden. Swedish text, but it is the pictures you will like! 368 beautifully produced pages. Nearly 600 photos and drawings, B&W and colour. Hardbound. Tremendous book!
